How to Grow

From seed

Kohlrabi seed is best sown when soil temperatures are between 8oC and 30oC.

Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil.

Enrich with fertilizer.

Sow seeds directly planting them in clumps of 2-3 seeds, 10-15cm apart, and 30-40cm between rows.

Cover lightly with seed raising mix, keep the soil moist so the seeds don't dry out.

Water regularly.

Once seedlings emerge, thin seedlings at each clump to the strongest.

Feed weekly with plant food.

Kohlrabi is best when grown quickly with regular watering and side dressings of nitrogen fertiliser or liquid feeds.

In a pot

Don't mound earth around growing plants and remove weeds by shallow cultivation in between plants.

Ready to harvest

Harvest by pulling the bulbs out early or when the bulbs are between 5-7cm in diameter.

Early pulling spreads the harvest.

Kohlrabi is ready to pick in 8 to 10 weeks.
