Entire plant wilted or cut off at the base of the plant
Cutworms chew any young seedlings.
Potato moth caterpillars (also called cutworms) will ‘mine’ potato leaves and bore into potato tubers
Use paper collars, one inch above and one inch below ground level, around stems of transplants.
Push tin or cardboard cylinders 25mm into the ground around young plants to protect stems – toilet rolls are ideal.
Hoe lightly around plants to expose cutworms, then remove them.
